Proper servicing and adjustment is the key to the long life of any farm implement.
With careful and systematic inspection of your grain drill, you can avoid costly
downtime and repair.
1) After using your drill for several hours, check all bolts to be sure they are tight.
Refer to the torque value chart in your operator's manual.
2) A) Lubricate the seed cup drive sprocket shaft by coating with Never Seeze.
B) Lubricate all chains with chain lube.
C) Grease the clutch cam fittings. With the clutch jaws in the open position,
lubricate with slip plate or a chain lube between the jaws.
D) Grease the coulter arm pivots every 6 to 8 hours.
E) Grease the wheel arm pivot castings every 6 to 8 hours.
F) Grease coulter hub bearings and end wheel hub bearing before start of
each planting season.
3) Disk scrapers should be properly adjusted.
4) Check for the proper air pressure in the implement tires.
The 605NT 9.5L x 15"is 44 psi.
The 3P605NT 5.70 drive wheel tire is 50 psi.
5) Check all chain idlers for proper adjustment. To adjust the chain in the drive axle
tube, loosen jam nut on top of axle tube and screw adjusting stud in to tighten the chain
and retighten jam nut.
NOTE: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN CHAINS.

  • Page 2 If the front of tractor is light, add additional front weights. B) Hitching the 605NT to the tractor. With the drill lowered and tongue jack in the parking position, level the tongue, then back the tractor to the drill hitch, match the tractor drawbar height to the drill tongue by moving the hitch height adjustment as needed.
  • Page 3 3) Leveling the drill. A) Lower the 605NT drill to the ground and hold the hydraulic lever until the wheel cylinders are completely retracted. At this point, walk to the side of drill and visually check to see if the drill box lid and frame is parallel to the ground, if not adjust the turnbuckle on the tongue until the drill lid or frame is level.
  • Page 4 4) Check the seed cups for any foreign objects in the seed cups. Loosen wing nut on seed rate handle and open all the way to 100% on the brass plate. Move handle back until the edge of the flute or meter wheel is flush with the seam between the two feed cup halves (this is 50% open).
  • Page 5 6) Locate the desired seeding rate for the type of seed on the chart in the owner’s manual or on the lid of drill. The drill uses a four-position gear box.. A) Set the drive type for the seed and rate desired. B) Loosen wing nut on seed rate adjustment handle and move it past the required number and then back to the correct number on the brass plate.
  • Page 6 FIELD ADJUSTMENTS 1) SET COULTER DEPTH: On the 605NT, lower the drill until desired depth is achieved and set the cylinder stop on the master cylinder. (The cylinder on the left side of drill.). Raise the drill up and drive forward lowering the drill as you are moving.
  • Page 7 A) On the 3P605NT level the drill box top with the tractors top 3-point link. B) On the 605NT level the drill frame front to back with the turnbuckle on. 3) SPRING TENSION ON THE OPENERS: The “W” clips on the opener spring rods should be in the lowest hole.
