Safety Instructions

NOTICE!
i
Installation must only be performed by authorized and specialized personnel!
DANGER!
Live components and stripped cable! Risk of injury from electric shock. The system must be
current-free during connection work.
CAUTION!
Electrostatic discharge (ESD)! Electronic components could become damaged. Ground
yourself using a wrist strap or take other suitable actions.

Functional Description

The FLM-420-O8I2-S Octo-output Interface Module has eight semiconductor outputs (OC) for controlling external
devices and two monitored inputs.
The outputs can be switched independently. They are electrically isolated from the LSN loop and protected against
short circuits. Connected loads can be power-supplied in separate groups with four outputs each by the fire panel or
from external power supply units.
For the two inputs, two monitoring functions can be selected each (see Figure 6, Page 5):
1.
Monitoring a line with EOL resistor for standby or triggering (interruption/short circuit)
2.
Monitoring a potential free contact for "open" and "closed" states
The programming is carried out via the programming software of the fire panel.
Cables are fed through rubber bushings or PG cable glands (see Figure 3, Page 4).
The pluggable terminal blocks of the interface module allow for an easy wiring (even if built in).
Address Setting
Fit a rotary switch in the required position using a pan head slotted screwdriver (see Figure 4, Page 5).
It is not permitted to use different operating modes in the same loop, stub or T-tap next to each other!

Wiring
The outputs OUTI/1- to 4- and OUTII/5- to 8- are switched against the negative potential of the interface module
(POWER IN OUTI/PI- and POWER IN OUTII/PII-). The positive potential for OUTI/PI+ and OUTII/PII+ is
provided either by the auxiliary power supply (AUX) from the fire panel (see Figure 7, Page 6) or by one or two
external power supply units (see Figure 8, Page 7) or a combination of both (see Figure 9, Page 7). OUTI/PI+ and
POWER IN/OUTI/PI+ as well as OUTII/PII+ and POWER IN/OUTII/PII+ are linked internally.
External power supplies must be free-of-ground.
NOTICE!
The maximum cable length of all inputs connected to the loop or stub is 500 m in total.
i
Additionally, all outputs which are not electrically isolated from LSN must be included in the
total line length calculation (e.g. peripherals connected via C points).
The activation of the inputs IN 1...2 has to be carried out electrically isolated from LSN (e. g.
with relay contacts, pushbutton, etc.).
The inputs must have a minimum activation time of 3.2 s.
