Therefore, please let us know about possible criticism or ideas. We and our international partners are looking forward to hearing from you. Thorlabs This part of the instruction manual contains every specific information on how to handle and use a LS5000 card. A general description is followed by explanations of how to operate the unit remotely.
1.1 Safety 1 General description 1.1 Safety Attention INVISIBLE LASER RADIATION DO NOT VIEW DIRECTLY WITH OPTICAL INSTRUMENTS! CLASS 1M LASER PRODUCT The modules ‘LS5000’ are class 1M laser sources. Emitted wavelength: 1 single wavelength in the range 1454 nm … 1625 nm, according to ordered wavelength. Emitted optical power: up to 20 mW, according to ordered output power! Numerical aperture of the beam 0.11.

TXP series. All modules must only be operated with duly shielded connection cables. Only with written consent from Thorlabs may changes to single components be carried out or components not supplied by Thorlabs be used. This precision device is only dispatchable if duly packed into the complete original packaging including the plastic form parts.

1.1 Safety Attention Mobile telephones, cellular phones or other radio transmitters are not to be used within the range of three meters of this unit since the electromagnetic field intensity may then exceed the maximum allowed disturbance values according to IEC 61326-1. The TXP must not be operated in explosion endangered environments.
• Action check After power up the laser modules are in LASER OFF mode. • LabVIEW®- and LabWindows/CVI®-driver ® For the TXP-series cards Thorlabs supplies LabVIEW - and ® LabWindows/CVI -drivers for MS Windows 32.

3.1 Operating elements in the main window 3 Operating the LS5000 3.1 Operating elements in the main window 3.1.1 Wavelength Control By selecting one of the items in the drop-down window, you can select between wavelength display, display in wavenumbers or display in frequency. The small arrows at left of the display field allow to adjust the wavelength in nm steps.
3.1 Operating elements in the main window 3.1.2 Power Control By selecting one of the items in the drop-down window, you can select between a power display in milli-Watts (mW) or in dBm. Pressing the Laser On / Laser Off button will switch the laser diode ON or OFF. The writing on the buttons always shows the ‘is now’-status.
3.2 Menu items 3.1.4 The Status messages field The status message field gives you information about all unexpected events occurring during the operation. They are listed chronologically in the status field. In contrary to these status messages are error messages Messages in red are more important than those in black.
3.2 Menu items 3.2.2 The ‘Connection’ menu • ‘Connect’ will open the connection to a TXP mainframe • ‘Disconnect’ interrupts this connection. After clicking ‘Connect’, the following screen opens: Enter the IP Address of your TXP mainframe (this address is given to the TXP in the initialization process with the TXP-Administrator program) and if necessary (ask your system operator) also the port number and a timeout value under ‘Advanced’: The timeout value is the wait-time after which the program card yields a connection...

If you don’t find the error source by means of the trouble shooting list, please contact Thorlabs Hotline (europe@thorlabs.com) 4.2 Recalibration In normal operation the LS5000 card does not need any service. If highest precision of the measurements is vital for you, you should send your module for recalibration to every two years.
5 Appendix 5.1 Warranty warrants material and production of the LS5000 for a period of 24 Thorlabs GmbH months starting with the date of shipment. During this warranty period Thorlabs will see to defaults by repair or by exchange if these are entitled to warranty.
5.2.1 Waste treatment on your own responsibility If you do not return an “end of life” unit to Thorlabs, you must hand it to a company specialized in waste recovery. Do not dispose of the unit in a litter bin or at a public waste disposal site.
5.2 Thorlabs “End of Life” policy (WEEE) 5.2.2 Ecological background It is well known that WEEE pollutes the environment by releasing toxic products during decomposition. The aim of the European RoHS directive is to reduce the content of toxic substances in electronic products in the future.
