Engine Replacement

bota 3.6L diesel engine, manufactured before Feb-
ruary, 2012.

18. Disconnect exhaust pipes from exhaust mani-
folds. See Exhaust System Repair for procedures.
19. Remove radiator fan pulley, shroud, and fan as-
sembly.

WARNING
All fuels are very flammable and can burn or
cause an explosion. DO NOT use an open flame to
check the fuel level or to check for leaks in the
fuel system.
No smoking.
Breathing fuel vapor may cause nausea, uncon-
sciousness or death. Long term exposure to gas-
oline vapors may cause liver or kidney damage
and cancer. Avoid breathing vapor.
20. Disconnect fuel lines at engine. Put caps on fuel
lines to prevent fuel leakage.

22. Disconnect positive battery (B+) from starter mo-
tor.
23. Lift trucks equipped with GM 4.3L engine, remove
starter motor to reach four torque converter ac-
cess bolts. See Figure 25 or Figure 26.
