These guidelines should be used by a qualified service agent.
Problem
Tighten threaded connections.
Inspect other appliances near water heater.
See Condensation (page 25).
Install thermal expansion tank (DO NOT plug T&P valve).
Check relief valve for proper operation (DO NOT plug T&P
valve).
Drain and flush heater thoroughly, then refill.
Chlorinate or aerate water supply.
See the Lighting Instructions on the water heater's label.
Turn on main gas shutoff valve.
Replace pilot/thermopile assembly.
Locate piezo switch on thermostat. Replace if needed.
Replace pilot/thermopile assembly.
Replace Gas Control.
Clean pilot assembly.
Replace pilot/thermopile assembly.
Replace Gas Control.
Insert thermopile correctly.

Reduce hot water use.
