Application
Non-destructive testing of the adhesive strength up to
2.2 N/mm
on surface to be tested (e.g. prior to the
2
application of a coat).
Preparation of the Test Area
• Clean and eventually scarify the floor surface
(e.g. cementious floor area)
• Stick the test disc to the test surface and let the adhe-
sive glue hardened (on cementious floor areas we
recommend a glue on the basis of Methylmetacrylat,
e.g. R21 from Silikal, Mainhausen, Germany)
• Screw the ball ended tensile bolt in the test disc
(the area to be tested normally is not drilled for a
non-destructive testing)
Test Performance
• Hook the adhesive strength tester at the ball ended
tensile bolt and set if possible symmetrical with the
turning handle backlash free.
• Turn the red tell tale pointer on the display instrument
anticlockwise up to the black pointer.
• Turn on the crank to load the sample up to fracture or
until the value of 2.2 N/mm
• Read the value displayed
The probe must be fractured on the whole circle area of
the adhesive surface otherwise the test is not valid.

Caution:
Do not overload the instrument. In case the
value of 2,2 N/mm
turning on the crank is allowed.
Maintenance of the Tester
• Keep the instrument clean and when not in use keep
it in the carrying case.
• Clean the thread of the feed shaft occasionally and oil
it slightly. For that place the feed shaft at the utmost
position by turning the handle as far as possible.
• In case of oil leakage of the measuring system:
Send the instrument for repair.
Reuse of the used test discs
The test discs (especially the ones made of steel) can
be used several times. For instance, when tested on a
cementious surface, the glue and plaster residuals
adherent can be removed with hammer and chisel or by
placing it on a hotplate. The adhesive surfaces of the
test disc should remain even (file if necessary).
Example of Application
The procedure of the testing of an adhesive strength
on a calcium sulphate bonded, cementious floor surface,
as it is performed in Germany, is described in the
enclosure.
