7.7. Troubleshooting
Problem
Electric motor malfunction
Motor hums and draws
high current
Fuses blow or automatic
circuit breakers trip
Drill's motor stops as soon
as the drill contacts the soil
Drilled hole is not deep
enough
Second drill head does not
turn
Holes in wrong position
Hole in one pot in holder is
closer to rim than in other
pot
Disk cannot be adjusted/
difficult to adjust
Machine does not start
Pot separation take-off is
jammed
Used pots not separated.
Possible cause
Grid voltage differs from the nominal
voltage by more than 10%
Cooling air temperature too high
Cable connection faulty
Fuse blown
Not enough cooling air, cooling air
passage is blocked
Controller malfunction
Failed winding
Loose wire
Short circuit in wiring or motor
Live parts in the motor contact the
housing or the motor has a short circuit
in the windings
Motor is connected wrongly
Electrical problem with the motor or
cable
Depth is not set correctly
Toothed belt broken
Bearings worn out
Hatch with safety proximity switch open
(such as drill hatch)
Red head of emergency stop button not
pulled out
Emergency stop button not reset
Automatic circuit breaker or controller
in switch box has tripped
Second machine in the line is not ready,
so take-off is not enabled.
Cylinder carries out sequence of
movements too slowly, so machine take-
off steps are not completed in sequence.
Valve may be fouled
Pots sticking together
Action/solution
Provide for grid supply with the correct
voltage
Provide for cool air
Check and repair cable connection if
necessary
Replace fuse
Provide for proper supply and exhaust of
cooling air
Consult the controller manual
Repair or replace the motor
Connect wire
Remedy short circuit
Call in a repair company to remedy short
circuit
Connect motor properly
Contact an electrician
Adjust depth
Replace toothed belt
Check width setting and adjust if
necessary. Measure, where relevant
Loosen 3 M8 bolts around motor and turn
drill unit.
Replace disk bearings
Close hatch and reset safety circuit by
pressing reset button
Pull red head of emergency stop button out
and reset safety circuit by pressing reset
button
Reset safety circuit by pressing reset button
Inspect to find out why automatic circuit
breaker or controller has tripped. Remove
any obstacles from supply belts. Reset
automatic circuit breaker after solving
problem
Release take-off of second machine in line.
Replace relevant valve
Do not use used pots
