2. Limitations of Use

The D-Guard
detector:-
Can be used in Group I hazardous area applications where the product is assembled, tested and
marked appropriately for such use.
Can be used in Group IIC hazardous area applications where the product is assembled, tested and
marked appropriately for such use.
Can be used in Group IIB hazardous area applications where the product is assembled, tested and
marked appropriately for such use.
Can be connected to equipment with compatible entity parameters.
Can be used in conjunction with other equipment as part of a safety instrumented system for the
purposes of risk reduction.
The detector is NOT designed to be used as the sole means of ensuring safety to personnel or
equipment.
The detector must be powered from an intrinsically safe source of power. This may be either an
intrinsically safe power supply or a safe-area located, non-intrinsically safe power supply via the use
of an appropriate approved safety barrier.
Certification and identification labels fixed to this sensor must not be damaged, removed, modified or
covered before, during or after installation.
Must not be used in an oxygen enriched atmosphere.
Must not be modified in any manner*. As supplied, the unit is constructed in accordance with, and is
compliant with the standards against which it has been certified. Modification to its construction will
invalidate the product's certification.
Is not on-site repairable and contains no user serviceable parts (sensors and filter excepted).
* Cable glands may be substituted for types of equal ingress protection (IP66 / IP68) and
have compatibility with the hazardous location into which D-Guard
2
is installed.
