Checking the coolant and topping up
Checking the coolant level

Stop the vehicle on a level surface.

Let the coolant cool down for at least
30 minutes.

Open the service cover. (

Check reservoir ; visually.
The fluid level must be between the MIN
mark and the MAX mark.
Topping up the coolant

WARNING
The cooling system is pressurised, par-
ticularly when the motor is warm. If you
open the cap, you could be scalded if hot
coolant sprays out. There is a risk of
injury.
Let the engine cool down before you open
the cap. Wear protective gloves and pro-
tective eyewear when opening. Open the
cap slowly to release pressure.
Only top up the coolant level when the
vehicle is on a level surface and the engine
has cooled down.

Add only coolant that has been pre-
mixed with the desired antifreeze protec-
tion. You could otherwise damage the
engine.
If antifreeze/corrosion inhibitor is present
in the correct concentration, the boiling
point of the coolant during operation is
approximately 130 †.
The antifreeze/corrosion inhibitor concen-
tration in the engine cooling system should
be 50% (antifreeze protection down to
-37 †). This will protect the engine cooling
system against freezing down to approx-
imately -25 †.

Cover cap : of coolant expansion
tank ; with a cloth.
Turn the cap slowly one half turn. If nec-
essary, allow excess pressure to escape.
Turn the cap further and remove it.
Top up the coolant to the MAX level.
Replace the cap and tighten it as far as it
will go.
Close the service cover. (

Topping up the washer fluid

WARNING
Windscreen washer concentrate is highly
flammable. If it comes into contact with
hot components in the front compart-
ment, it may ignite. There is a risk of fire
and injury.
Make sure that windscreen washer con-
centrate is not spilled next to the filler
neck.
