Introduction Introduction The RUGGEDCOM RS416P is an industrially hardened serial device server with an integrated, fully managed, 4-Port Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch, designed to operate reliably in electrically harsh and climatically demanding utility substation and industrial environments. Featuring a modular design that can support up to 16 serial ports, the RS416P is able to interconnect multiple types of intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) that have different methods of communications.
The RS416P features various ports, controls and indicator LEDs on the display panel for connecting, configuring and troubleshooting the device. The display panel can be located on the rear, front or top of the device, depending on the mounting configuration. Figure 1: RUGGEDCOM RS416P 1. Serial Ports 2.
