Instructions for lithium batteries

13.1

Batteries less than 100 Wh

For batteries and devices with batteries with an overall capacity less than 100 Wh, the
following packaging regulations apply to their transport:
Packaging regulation for road/rail: ADR/RID SV188
Packaging regulation for sea freight: IMDG SP188
Packaging regulation for transport by air: IATA
Variants of the packaging regulation for transport by air:
1. Regulation for standalone batteries, more than two batteries: IATA PI965 Section IB
2. Regulation for standalone batteries, up to two batteries: IATA PI965 Section II
3. Regulation for batteries with equipment/device up to two (spare) batteries: IATA
PI966 Section II
4. Regulation for batteries in equipment/device: IATA PI967 Section II
13.2

Return transport of batteries for disposal and recycling

Return transport of batteries for disposal and recycling may only take place by road/rail or by
sea freight. Packaging regulation SV377 P909 applies.
Transport by air freight is not permitted!
13.3

Return transport of damaged or defective batteries

Return transport of damaged or defective batteries may only take place by road/rail or by sea
freight. Packaging regulation SV376 P908 applies.
Transport by air freight is not permitted!
