TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem
Chemical pump will not start
Chemical pump will not start; Chemical
pump starts but runs roughly
Water pump shuts down during operation
Chemical pump overheating or performing
poorly
Pump will not draw water

Cause
No fuel
Faulty spark plug
Low oil level
Choke in the wrong position
Spark plug wire loose
Out of fuel
Low oil level
Strainer or hose clogged
Pump not primed
Suction hose out of water
Head limit exceeded
Air leak
Water not added to pump
Hose clamps on inlet hose are not tight

Solution
Add fuel
Replace spark plug
Fill crankcase to the proper level; place
water transfer pump on a flat, level surface
Adjust choke
Attach wire to spark plug
Fill fuel tank
Fill crankcase to the proper level; place
water transfer pump on a flat, level surface
Remove debris from strainer or hose
Re-prime pump
Place suction hose under the surface of
the water
Relocate pump so suction head is less
than discharge head (maximum 98 feet)
Tighten connectors and clamps or replace
seal packing
Review "Priming the Pump" section of this
manual
Even small pinhole leak can result in
vacuum loss preventing pump from
priming. Check hose clamps to ensure
they are tight. Adjust clamp position if
necessary.
