Troubleshooting

Problem
No function when On/Off Trigger Switch (8) is operated
Dust not being extracted or weak extraction
Sanding sheets not securely fitted
Poor sanding performance
Sander difficult to use
Poor motor power and slow rotation
Motor gets hot
Unusual noises
Frequent or strong sparks from motor assembly
Other fault or suggested solution not working
Possible cause
No power
Defective On/Off Trigger Switch
Blockage
Sanding sheet incorrectly fitted
Extraction/Vacuum cleaner not switched on
Vacuum Adjuster (6) incorrectly set
Worn Hook & Loop Pad (14)
Extraction/Vacuum level too low
Applying pressure in use causing premature sheet wear
Sanding sheet incorrect grit
Surface not suitable for sander
Incorrect speed or extraction
Excessive vacuum extraction
Block vents or foreign material inside motor housing
Inadequate or contaminated lubrication on moving parts
Carbon brushes worn or damaged
Product fault or worn part

Solution
Check power supply
Replace the On/Off Trigger Switch at an authorised GMC
service centre
Remove blockage (see maintenance)
Ensure perforated holes line up
Switch on
Adjust for the correct suction (see 'Adjusting vacuum power')
Replace Pad (see 'Maintenance')
Increase suction power so dust between sanding sheet and
surface is more effectively removed
Do not apply excessive pressure to Sanding Base (13) in use
Replace with suitable grit sheet
No solution
Adjust Vacuum Adjuster (6) and Speed Adjustment Dial (3) to
make power tool easier to use
Reduce vacuum power
Clean motor housing & vents
Apply or replace grease
Replace carbon brushes
Contact your GMC authorised service centre for repair or
servicing
