Updating Software

Updating to the latest software delivers the best
performance and gets the latest enhanced functions.
• You are charged for data communication when connecting to
the Internet from the product by using data communication.
OS updates will especially use a large amount of data.
au recommends that you update software using a Wi-Fi
connection.
• When a software update is necessary, you will be informed
on the au homepage, etc. For details, contact the au shop or
Customer Service Center (157/Toll-free). Customers using
a Galaxy Note9 requiring a software update may be sent
a notification from au so that the terminal can be used in
optimum condition.
• You are recommended to back up your data before updating
software.
• Be sure to fully charge the internal battery before use.
Updating software may fail if the battery level is low or
becomes low while updating.
• Check the radio wave condition. Updating software may fail in
poor reception areas.
• If software update has failed or stopped, update the software
again.
• If you fail to update software, it may become impossible to
operate the product. If this happens, bring it to an au shop or
PiPit (not accepted by some shops).
• The software update function may not be available overseas.
• Operations are not available during software update. Calls to
110 (Police), 119 (Fire department or ambulance service),
118 (Japan Coast Guard) and 157 (Customer Service Center)
are also not available. Also, alarm, etc. cannot be used.
Downloading and updating software
Update files can be downloaded from the Internet web site
via wireless communication into the product directly.
On the Applications screen, [Settings]

Troubleshooting

Before you assume that the product is malfunctioning,
check the following item and perform "クイック診断 (Quick
diagnosis)" or "トラブル診断 (Troubleshooting diagnosis)"
with the "故障紛失サポート (Repair and Delivery Service)" app.

On the Applications screen, [auツール/サポート (au
tool/support)] → [故障紛失サポート (Repair and Delivery
Service)] → [クイック診断してみる(Try quick diagnosis)]
■ トラブル診断 (Troubleshooting diagnosis)
On the Applications screen, [auツール/サポート (au
tool/support)] → [故障紛失サポート (Repair and Delivery
Service)] → [便利な機能 (Convenient function)]→ [トラブル診
断を試す(Try troubleshooting diagnosis)]
