Troubleshooting
Many common problems have simple solutions. Check quickly through the following list before calling for service.
Symptom
Nothing appears on the window when the power switch
is turned on.
The unit does not receive faxes.
Receiving fails after you press [START/COPY].
The unit does not send faxes.
Received faxes are dirty or hard to read.
The unit does not make copies.
You get no dial tone.
Automatic Document Feeder does not work properly, so
2 or more sheets feed simultaneously.
Possible Cause/Solution
l Is the machine plugged in ?
l Does the wall outlet have power ?
l
Is the wall outlet on a switch that is turned off ?
l Is the RECEIVE MODE indicator lit ?
l Make sure the cover is closed securely.
l Make sure the handset is in the cradle.
l
Did you hang up the handset before pressing [START/COPY] ?
l Are documents properly loaded, and face down ?
l
Did you hang up the handset before pressing [START/COPY] ?
l Poor original or dirty scanning glass on sending machine.
l Are documents properly loaded, and face down ?
l Is the telephone line cord connected properly?
Connect the cord to the TEL. LINE jack.
l Make sure the power switch is ON.
l Is the handset curl cord connected properly?
l Make sure the document tray is properly installed.
l
ADF rubber is dirty. Clean it (see page 45). If you still have problem on the
automatic feeding, replace it with new one.
