Probable cause
• Plate incorrectly placed in
barrier envelope
• The plate was placed in the
mouth of the patient the
wrong way round
• Image data on the plate has
not been sufficiently erased
• Exposed plate subject to
effects of ambient light

• Amplification level too low
(HV-value)
• Wrong scanning mode used
• Threshold setting too high

Troubleshooting
Solution
• Place plate correctly.
The black side (printed) of the plate must be visible
through the transparent side of the barrier envelope.
• The blue sensitive side of the plate must be facing
toward the tube.
• Check the erasure settings
• Inform your Service Technician
• Replace the Erasure unit
• Use barrier envelope or transfer box to keep
plate shielded from ambient light until scanning.
• Check X-ray parameters
• Increase the amplification (HV-value)
• Choose a suitable scanning mode
• Reduce the settings

Size #2 inlet guide for Size #1 and #2 plates.
• Only use Air Techniques plates.
• Only use the plate within 24 hours of data erasure.
• Do not expose used plates to light. Exposure and
the scanning of the image data should be carried
out within half an hour.
• Use barrier envelope or transfer box to keep
plate shielded from ambient light until scanning.
• Clean the plate with PSP cleaning wipes available
from Air Techniques.
• Replace plates with scratches and call dealer for
maintenance service.
• Darken the room
• Rotate the ScanX Swift so that no direct light
falls on the film entry slot
• USB-driver not installed or inactive
• Check the USB cable
• Activate ScanX Swift using software
• Install inlet guide correctly.
