Clutch/Brake Foot Pedal Assembly Service -
Hydro-Gear 216 Models
Refer to Figure C–3 for specific assembly and part loca-
tion information.
1. Remove the mower deck, and position the unit to per-
mit safe access to the underside of the frame and the
foot control assembly parts.
2. Using a socket wrench, remove the locknut that
secures the brake pedal arm to the brake pedal
assembly (Figure C–4).
3. Note the position of the brake pedal assembly and
foot pedal arms (Figure C–4), and slide the brake
pedal arm out of the unit, catching the washers posi-
tioned under the lock nut as the brake pedal assem-
bly arm is re-moved. (The brake pedal arm, parking
brake cam , switch actuator, and clutch rod may be
left in place, partially assembled.)
Clutch Rod Service -
Hydro-Gear 216 Models
Refer to Figure C–3 for specific assembly and part loca-
tion information.
1. Using a needle-nose pliers, remove the cotter pin that
secures the clutch rod to the parking brake cam
(Figure C–4).
2. Remove the cotter pin and washer that secure the
rear end of the clutch rod to the idler arm assembly
and brake arm (Figure C–5). Remove the clutch rod.
3. Inspect the clutch rod. The clutch rod must be
straight between the bends at each end (Figure C–6).
If the clutch rod is bent or damaged, replace it.
4. Reassemble all parts in reverse order of disassem-
bly.
