Adjustments
WARNING
Perform adjustment procedures on
the tractor only when the engine is
stopped. Always remove the ignition
key before beginning the adjustment
procedures to prevent accidental start¬
ing of the engine. Set parking brake
unless otherwise directed.
TRACTOR BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
1. Place the tractor on a level surface so
it will not roll. The parking brake will
be released during this procedure.
2. Place the transmission in gear. Release
the parking brake; the clutch-brake
pedal must in up position.
NOTE
See figure 30 to locate brake rod. A
close-up view is shown in figure 30 A.
3. If the brake rod (A, figure 30) is
sagging, push it up slightly so it ap¬
pears as in figure 30A. Pull forward
on the brake band to take out any
slack.

4. Measure the gap between the spacer
(C) and the brake band (D). The gap
should measure between 5/16 and
7/16 inch (8 to 11 mm). See figure
30A.
5. If the gap is not 5/16 to 7/16 inch,
loosen or tighten the locknut to achieve
the correct measurement. For safety,
a minimum of two full threads must
extend through the nut. See figure
30A.

Measurement
TRACTOR CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
1. Place the tractor on a level surface so
it will not roll.
2. Place the transmission in gear. En¬
gage the parking brake; the clutch-
brake pedal must be in up position.
3. Measure the distance between the set
collar (D, figure 31) and rod guide (B).
The distance should measure between
1/2 and 5/8 inch (13 to 16 mm). See
figure 31A to take measurement.
