Front & Rear Shift Rod Service -
Hydro-Gear 216-3010L Models
10. See Figure B–21. Unscrew the hex nut and related
hardware used to connect the shift pivot assembly to
the front shift rod.
11. The shift pivot assembly may now be removed from
the shaft, allowing the front shift rod to be removed.
12. Inspect the shift pivot assembly for wear, corrosion,
or other damage, giving particular attention to the in-
side surface of the pivot tube. Replace the shift pivot
assembly if worn or corroded.
13. Check the front shift rod for cracks, corrosion, or
other damage, and replace if necessary.
14. See Figure 23. Remove the nut, washer, spacer, and
carriage bolt that secures the front of the rear shift
rod to the pivot assembly (9-12, 17, 20, 21).
15. Remove the nut, washers, spacers, and bolt that se-
cures the rear end of the shift rod (B, Figure B-22) to
the hydro control lever (A). Remove the rod.
Reinstall in reverse order of disassembly.
