Maintenance and Inspection Schedule
Daily check routine as described in Section 5.1, Page 11
Weekly check routine as described in Section 8.1, Page 27
Clean wheelchair upholstery & Seating system
Quarterly check routine as described in Section 8.1, Page 27
Complete inspection, safety check and service should be made by a Sunrise
Medical authorized dealer
* Daily = Before each use of the wheelchair. Quarterly = Every three (3) months.
If fasteners are found to be loose a Sunrise Medical Authorized Dealer should tighten the fastener to the torque
setting per size detailed below, unless stated otherwise in all appropriate owner's manuals or installation
instructions (if applicable).
• M8 Fasteners = 120-132 IN-LBS (13.5-14.9 N-m).
• M6 Fasteners = 60-70 IN-LBS (6.8-7.9 N-m).
• M5 Fasteners = 27-32 IN-LBS (3.1-3.6 N-m).
• M4 Fasteners = 6-8 IN-LBS (0.7-0.9 N-m).

8.2 Wheels and tires maintenance

To ensure that your wheelchair functions properly, it is essential that the tires are kept at the correct pressure. The correct
tire pressure is indicated on the side of the tire.
Tires that are too soft will have a negative effect on the wheelchair's performance. Moving the wheelchair will require more
energy, making more demands on the batteries. Furthermore, wear on under inflated tires is increased.
When inspecting the tires for signs of wear, look for significant scuff marks, cuts and a diminished tire tread. Tires will need to
be changed when the tread cannot be seen over the complete surface of the tire.

• Do not inflate beyond the maximum allowed tire pressure.
• Always use the pump that is supplied with the chair.
• Never use a gas station pump.
• Before tires are repaired they must first be fully deflated!
