Software Section
l For TCP/IP communication
• Active (Active open station)
The self station performs Active open processing to another station that is in Passive open state (waiting for a open request).
Specify the IP address and port No. of the target station in "IP_ADD" and "RPORT_NO" of the FB.
Active open mode is equivalent to a client in the relation between a server and a client.
If both stations are set in Active, the connection cannot be opened.
• Passive (Passive open station)
The self station receives an open request from another station. The settings of "IP_ADD" and "RPORT_NO" of the FB are
ignored.
Passive open mode is equivalent to a server in the relation between a server and a client.
If both stations are set in Passive, the connection cannot be opened.
l For UDP/IP communication
UDP/IP provides connectionless communication without the concept of open. However, the operation differs depending on the
selected open mode as follows.
• Active (Active open station)
The self station communicates with the station that is specified in "IP_ADD" and "RPORT_NO" of the FB.
If both stations are set in Active, the connection cannot be opened.
• Passive (Passive open station)
The self station receives an open request from another station. After the open request ("O_EN" of the FB) is set on, the self
station becomes ready for receiving data from the target station. The self station cannot send data before receiving the
first data. Once data communication is performed, the self station stores information on the target station and thereafter
communicates only with it. When the open request ("O_EN" of the FB) is set off, the stored information is reset and the self
station is ready for access from any station again.
If both stations are set in Passive, the connection cannot be opened.
<Passive open mode>
Passive open mode is enabled only for TCP/IP communication.
0: Open completed without confirming the establishment of the connection
When an open request is issued, "O_OK" of the FB is set on without confirming the establishment of the Ethernet connection.
1: Open completed at the establishment of the connection
When an open request is issued, "O_OK" of the FB is set on after the Ethernet connection is established.
If the connection is not established for 300 seconds after an open request is issued, an open error occurs (Status: 193).
<Communication protocol>
According to the communication target station, choose between TCP/IP and UDP/IP.
<Transmission code>
SPF supports binary only. The ASCII code conversion function is not supported.
<Data swap>
Data swap is disabled for SPF.
When array data in the PLC (S_DAT, R_DAT) are sent or received on the network, this setting determines whether to reverse
the upper and lower bytes of the data. For SPF, data swap is disabled (fixed).
The figure below shows the arrangement of array data in the PLC and a data packet that flows on the network.
