Installation Instructions
1. Introduction
The SA-17 Wireless Heat Detector is a supervised system for
detecting high temperatures and sudden temperature
increases within an area.
The detector can be used in any residential or commercial
location, requires no wiring and is fully equipped for RF wireless
control from a central security unit. The detector is easy to
install and powered by one 9V battery, giving a typical battery
life of one year.
Mount the detector on the SA-13 RF base. Using the SA-13's
wireless transmitter, the detector can connect to any standard
wireless security system. For best performance, Rosslare
recommend using the SA-17 with our custom designed
HomeLogiX and SP-03 wireless security panels. The SA-13 is
powered by an additional 9V battery.
The detector has anti-tampering sensors on its cover and back
plate, and sends a standard status message to its host security
panel every 20 minutes. When the unit's battery is running low,

3. Installation
The SA-17 is a single station detector and must not be
connected to other fire alarm systems.
3.1 Location
For full protection, every room should have a heat detector
fitted. At the very least, a home built on a single storey should
have at least one heat detector in the hall, close to all the
living areas, including bedrooms and kitchens. Ensure the alert
siren is audible from every room.
In a home with more than one storey, at least one heat
detector should be fitted on each landing and at the bottom
of the staircase.
3.2 Mounting the Detector
Before mounting the SA-17 Heat Detector, ensure that your
chosen mounting area is not in front of any electrical wiring or
pipe work.
