SUPPLEMENTS
INTRODUCTION
CESSNA
MODEL 150M
This section consists of a series
of
supplements, each covering a
single optional system which may be installed in the airplane.
Each sup-
lement contains a brief description, and when applicable, operating lim-
itations, emergency and normal procedures, and performance. Other
routinely installed items of optional equipment, whose function and opera-
tional procedures do not require detailed instructions, are discussed in
Section 7.

The
ELT
consists
of
a self-contained
dual
-frequency radio
transmit-
ter and
battery power
supply, and is activated by an impact of 5g
or
more
as
ma
y be
experienced
in
a
crash
landing.
The
ELT
emits an
omni
-dir

tional signal
on the international
distress f
requencies of 12

LT will
provide
line-of-sight
transmission up to

The
duration of
ELT
transmissions is affected by
ambient
temperature.
At temperatur

of
+210 to
+54°C
(+70°
to
+130°
F),
continuous transmis
sion
for
115
hours
can be
expected;
a temperature
of
-40 °C (-40°F)
will
shorten
the
duration
to 70
hours
.
The ELT is
readily identified
a
s
a
bright
orange
unit mounted
behind
the baggage
compartment wall
in
t
he
t ailcone. To gain access t
o
the
unit,
remove the
baggage
compartment wall. The ELT is operated by a
contr
ol
panel at the fo rwa
rd
facing
end of the unit (see figure 1).
