The status field shall not be a null field.
All fields are used by the AIS except Stern speed.
VTG – Course over ground and ground speed
The actual course and speed relative to the ground.
Positioning system Mode indicator:
A = Autonomous mode
D = Differential mode
E = Estimated (dead reckoning) mode
M = Manual input mode
S = Simulator mode
N = Data not valid
The positioning system Mode indicator field shall not be a null field.
Course over ground, degrees magnetic and Speed over ground km/h
are not used by the 'AIS
ZDA – Time and date
UTC, day, month, year and local time zone.
Local time zone is the magnitude of hours plus the magnitude of
minutes added, with the sign of local zone hours, to local time to
obtain UTC. Local zone is generally negative for East longitudes with
local exceptions near the International Date Line.
