ENGINE OIL - GASOLINE VEHICLE

Even though the oil warning light on the dash should warn you if your oil is getting low, engine oil level should
be checked monthly (See Figure 29).
NOTE
• TO CHECK ENGINE OIL, THE ENGINE MUST BE IN LEVEL POSITION. REMOVE THE OIL LEVEL
DIPSTICK FROM THE OIL FILLER TUBE AND WIPE OIL FROM IT WITH A CLEAN DRY CLOTH
OR PAPER TOWEL. CHECK OIL BY INSERTING THE DIPSTICK FULLY INTO THE OIL FILLER
TUBE AND IMMEDIATELY REMOVING IT AGAIN. IF THE OIL LEVEL IS AT OR BELOW THE ADD
MARK ON THE DIPSTICK GAUGE, ADD OIL UNTIL THE LEVEL IS BETWEEN ADD AND FULL
(SAFE LEVEL). DO NOT OVERFILL! REINSERT DIPSTICK INTO THE OIL FILLER TUBE.
