4.18 CARE AND CLEANING _____________________________________________________

Wash the mower and implements after each use. Keep the
equipment clean.
NOTICE
Do not wash any portion of the equipment while it is hot.
Do not use high pressure spray or steam. Use cold water
and automotive cleaners.
1.
Use compressed air to clean engine and radiator fins. A
special blow gun is available through Jacobsen Dealer.
2. Use only fresh water for cleaning your equipment.
NOTICE
Use of salt water or affluent water has been known to
encourage rust and corrosion of metal parts resulting
in premature deterioration or failure. Damage of this
nature is not covered by the factory warranty.
3.
Do not spray water di rectly at the instrument panel,
ignition
switch,
controller,
components, or at bearing housings and seals.

4.19 RADIATOR _______________________________________________________________

WARNING
To prevent serious bodily injury from hot coolant or steam
blow-out, never attempt to remove the radiator cap while
the engine is running. Stop the engine and wai t until it is
cool. Even then, use extreme care when remov ing the
cap.

CAUTION
Do not pour cold water into a ho t radiator. Do no t
operate engine without a p roper coolant mixture.
Install cap and tighten securely.

Clean all plastic or rubber trim with
solution or us e commercially available vinyl/rubber
cleaners.
5.
To maintain the original high lus ter of the fiberglass,
periodically wax with a good gr ade of O ne-Step
cleaner wax.
Repair damaged metal surfaces and use Jacobsen touch-up
paint. Wax the equipment for maximum paint protection.

CAUTION
Clean grass and d ebris from cutting units, drives,
muffler, and engine to prevent fires.

WARNING
NEVER use your hands to clean cutting units. Use a
brush to remove grass clippings from blades. Blades are
extremely sharp and can cause serious injuries.
Check coolant level daily. Radiator should be full and
recovery bottle should be up to the cold mark.
Drain and refill annually. Remove the radiator cap, open the
engine block drain and the radiator drain. Empty and clean
the recovery bottle.
Mix clean water with ethy lene glycol based anti-freeze for
the coldest ambient temperature. Read and foll ow the
instructions on the anti-freeze container and engine manual.
Keep radiator air passages clean. Use compressed air (30
psi (207 kPa) maximum) to clean the fins.
Check and tighten the fan belt. Replace clamps and hoses
every two years.
If you have to add coolant more than once a month, or add
more than one quart at a ti me, have a authorized Jacobsen
Dealer check the cooling system.
