S p r i n g s — N a r r o w
diameter,
individually wrapped in burlap, coil seat springs.
M o l d e d
P l a s t i c — A formed plastic, such as
front seat back panel.
N a t u r a l G r a i n —Leather with a natural hair
cell without any additional design.
N o t c h e d B a c k — A separation at top between
individual backrests. Usually in a Coupe type
seat.
N y l o n C l o t h s — N y l o n warp fibers with. Vis-
cose filler. Any reference to a Nylon cloth means
that the material is a Nylon-Viscose blend.
OO—When used on new car order, it refers to
a special exterior color.
OOO—Refers to special upholstery, on new
car order.
Pipes o r Pleats—Style of upholstering when
material is folded or separated by seams, visible
or invisible.
Rear Q u a r t e r s — W h e n applied to interior it
may refer to rear upper area below headlining;
on 2-door cars, the section back of doors. For
exterior reference it may mean rear section
above belt line; lower section back of door
extending to rear end of car.
Rear Shelf—The area between rear seat back
and rear window. Package shelf.
Risers—A section raised above its surrounding
area.
Sail Panel—Refers to rear section above belt
line.
S e a m i n g Laces—Also called welts. A fabric
covered cord or piping used to join by sewing
t w o sections of material. This also has the bene-
fit of locating and properly positioning the up-
holstery material to form and preserve the re-
quired shape.
S e d a n T y p e Seat—A straight-across type seat
without individual backrest separation.
Seat—Combination of backrest and seat cush-
ion w h i c h comprises entire seat assembly.
S e a t Cover—The top of cushion or face of
backrest which has body contact.
S e a t S i d e Panels—A section along side of
front seat backrest.
S e a t W i n g s — L o w e r front seat side panel.
S e t o f T r i m S t o c k — T h e various components
that comprise a complete interior upholstery.
Skirt—See Cushion face.
S t r a t o B a c k r e s t — T h i n , tapered backrest.
T o p Boot—Convertible top cover when l o w -
ered.
T o p o f i n s t r u m e n t Panel—The padded vinyl
top or instrument panel cover in back of w i n d -
shield.
T r i m — T h e interior upholstery combination.
T r i m S t y l e — T h e design into which the uphol-
stery fabrics are shaped, such as pipe, biscuits,
plain, etc.
V a c u u m F o r m e d — V i n y l or plastic molded by
vacuum instead of pressure.
W i n d l a c e — T h e fabric or leather covered w i n d -
hose applied around doors as an air seal.
