TOWING
THE CAR
If your Falcon must be towed, it's important that
the tow chains be fastened only to the arms or
brackets that attach the bumper to the underbody.
And the chains must be routed under the bottom
edge of the bumper as shown in the illustration
on this
page.
When the car is to be towed on its rear wheels, make
sure that the parking brakes are released. If the car
is equipped with Conventional Drive, shift the gear
shift lever to neutral. With
Fordomatic,
the lever
should be at N, but the car should not be towed
faster than 30
mph,
nor farther than 15 miles.
Otherwise, it's advisable to tow the car with the
rear wheels raised off the
ground,
or with the drive
shaft disconnected from the rear axle.
