BELT ADJUSTMENT

Loosen bolt at genera-
lor
slotted bracket.
2.
Pull
generator away
from engine until de·
sired
bell
tension is ob.-
tained.
\Vith
correct
adjustment a light pres-
sure on
the
bell at a
point
midway
between
pulleys
should cause a
7/16'
to
~'
deflection
(fig.
71).
3. Tighten
all
generator
bolts secuTely.

removed and tested as follows:

radiator
drain cock apd drain out about

coolant to

the coolant level

the thermostat,
then close the
drain cock.

Remove the two cap
screws
that
attach the water oul.

thermostat housing

and
lift
water out-
let
(with
hose
attached), gasket, and
thermootat
from
housing.
3.
Heat
a container of water
to
a
temperature
25°
abov~
the temperature stamped
on
the thermostat
and place
thermostat
in
the
water and sec if it opens
fully.
If
it
does
not fully
open,
it
should be replaced.
4.
Place
thermostat
in
water 10
0
below
tbe
temperature
stamped
on the
thermostat
and
see if thermootat
fully
closes. If it does
not
fully close, it should be
replaced.
5.
Place
thermostat
in
bowing,
then using a
new
gaske
t,
install
water
outlet
and
cap
screws.

Fill
