Conlrol of the Powerglide
transmission is provided by
five different positions of a
seJecLOT lever which
is
mounted on
the
side of
the
Roor
tunnel
within con-
venient reach of the driver.
The
lever
posiLions, which

The engine can be started in

tion. The starter is inoperative in any other position,
since a safety switch is provided to prevent starting
the engine with the lransmission in
gear.

Pull
choke

climatic conditions. H the
engine is
warm or in
summer weather, it is not
generally
necessary to use
the choke at all.

extremely cold weather the cboke
should
be
pulled all the way
out.

Hold
accelerator
pedal down halfway and turn key
starter
to
START
(fig.
10). Release as
soon as engine
starts. Key starter
will
automatically return
to ON.
NOTE: Do oot pump tbe accelerator pedal before
or during the use of the starter as this will
cause difficult
slarting.
