IF ENGINE BRAKE IS NOT EFFECTIVE OR ENGINE
HAS TENDENCY TO RACE,
inspect these
items:
1.
Throttle opener system.
2.
Carburetor.
3. Anti-afterburn valve.
IF HEAT HAZARD WARNING LIGHT COMES ON
WHILE DRIVING, inspect these items:
1. Ignition
system
including spark
plugs.
2.
Air cleaner.
3; Have
carburetor
adjusted by your Mazda dealer.
4. Fuel tank and fuel
supply
to carburetor
.
5. Throttle opener
system.
6. Air control valve. (California vehicles only)
7. EGR
system.
8. Heat hazard sensor.
IF FLOOR TEMPERATURE RISES EXCESSIVELY,
inspect
these items:
1. Have carburetor adjusted by your Mazda dealer.
2. Ignition system including
spark
plugs.
3.
Air cleaner.
4. Fuel tank and fuel supply to
carburetor.
5
.
Air control valve. (California Vehicles only)
6. Throttle opener system.
7.
Heat hazard
sensor.

insulator.

IF OVERHEATING OCCURS, inspect these items:
1. Radiator coolant
level.
2. Restriction
of
air flow through radiator.
3.
Fan belt tension
and condition.
4. Engine
oil
level.
5. Thermostat.
6.
Ignition timing
.
IF A "FLAT SPOT" OCCURS WHEN
ACCELERAT·
lNG, inspect these items:
1. Carburetor.
2. Fuel lines, filter.
3
.
Air cleaner.
BRAKES DO NOT WORK PROPERLY
1. After driving
through
water deep enough to wet
the brakes, apply the brakes gently in a
safe
area
while moving and hold until brake performance
returns to normal, but do it very cautiously.
Caution: Brakes may pull
to either
side.
2. Check the brake system warning
light
for indication
of fluid leaks in the
system.
3.
If the brake pedal is "spongy", have the hydraulic
system bled by your Mazda dealer.
4. Let brakes cool after heavy usage, such as mountain
driving.
5.
If braking action
is
uneven (pulls to either side),
check tire pressures and brake lining pads.
