ROCKING THE CAR
If it
is
necessary to rock the
car
to free it from
snow, sand or mud, move the selector lever on auto-
matic
transmission
models from "0"
to "R"
in a repeat
pattern while
depressing
gently on the
accelerator.
(On manual transmission models, move the gearshift
lever from first to reverse gear,)
Do not race
the
engine.
If you are still
stuck
after
a
minute or two
of rocking, have the
car
pulled out to
avoid
overheating
and possible damage
to the transmission.
Caution:
Do not
spin
the rear wheels excessively as this may

AND CHANGING A WHEEL
Caution:
1. Follow
jacking
instructions
carefully
-
incorrect
procedures could
result in a serious or fatal accident.
2. Never
get
beneath the vehicle when
it
is supported
only by the jack. Use safety
stands
under
the
vehicle frame if under-carriage work
or
inspection
is necessary.
3.
The jack
is
designed for use
only
'Nhen changing
wheels. The jacking
weight
do not exceed maximum
permissible load
(3/4
ton,
750
kg!.
4.
Do not start or
run
the engine while vehicle is
on
the
jack.
To change a wheel, follow these steps:
1. Be
sure
the vehicle is on firm, level ground.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Shift the transmission to
reverse~,
(automatic trans-
mission in parks,)
4. If
stopped
in a hazardous location, turn on the
hazard
warning
flasher
and
leave
it on until
the
vehicle
is
completely ready to drive again.
