COMPLAINT:
After overhaul,vehicles built after 1999, equipped with the AX4S or AX4N transmissions
may exhibit a "no engagement" in Reverse.
CAUSE:
The cause may be, that the Previous Design Channel Plate Gasket, was used on a Late
Design case as shown in Figure 103. When this happens, Reverse apply pressure will be
exhausted back into the case because of the gasket hanging over the case casting.
CORRECTION:
AX4S-Refer to Figure 103 to identify the correct Channel Plate Gasket for the application of
vehicle you are working on.
AX4N-Refer to Figure 104 to identify the correct Channel Plate Gasket for the application of
vehicle you are working on.
