The Windlass is operated by using the foot switch in the foredeck. On the front of the windlass are 2 pawls that
have to be moved out of the way to lower the anchor. There is a short handle / lever on the windlass used to
rotate the drum and free up the pawls.
Caution: If the windlass is operated with the pawls in place it may trip the circuit breaker located in the battery
cabinet by the cockpit door. This may also cause the clutch to over tighten and make the anchor difficult to
deploy. If the clutch is tight use the extension handle (pipe) in the wash down locker to turn the small three
pointed wheel on the starboard side of the windlass until the chain and anchor move freely.
Note: The windlass control buttons on the bow thruster remote have been disabled

3.5.10.1 To Set Anchor:
 Release the turn buckle from the anchor
 Turn on the "Windlass Power" switch in the power cabinet.
 Pull the two pawls back away from the gear teeth at the front of the drum (the winch is powerful so
watch fingers and toes).
 Flip the chain cap over the hawse pipe out of the way to prevent chain catching
 Uncap the button on deck that points forward (the one on the left). Tap it with your toe to get 1 or 2 feet
of slack.
 The anchor is self launching and should begin to drop over the pulpit roller.
 Put out the proper amount of scope. (use a minimum of 4ft of chain: for each 1 ft of depth from the deck,
a good practice is 7:1) Note that the depth transducer is at the bottom of the boat and well below the
deck line, add 8 ft to the depth reading to determine a proper depth for scope. Be certain to consider
your swing radius and assure you have room should wind or current change your direction.
 Once the scope is out and before setting the anchor return the pawls back in place on the gear teeth.
Forgetting this may damage the windlass clutch.
 Set the anchor with either or both engines in reverse, gently at first. The Ultra anchor is fast setting and
very strong. It should be very apparent when it has a hold on the bottom.
 Turn off the "Windlass Power" in the pilot house power cabinet.
 Remember your requirement to have your anchor light on during hours of darkness.
Note: on the starboard side of the windlass is a three-pronged wheel. This is a clutch that may be loosened to
lower the anchor by gravity and control its descent, or tighten the clutch if the windlass is slipping. A pipe
extension is kept in the wash down locker to turn the handles if need be.
3.5.10.2 To Weigh Anchor:
 Turn on the "Windlass Power" switch in the pilot house power cabinet.
 Flip open the cap covering the hawes pipe to allow the chain to flow easily and avoid potential jam up.
 Uncap the button on the deck that points aft (the one on the right) and tap the button with your toe to
take up slack chain on the rode. Have your first mate at the upper helm so you can communicate with
