Operating Manual for Sea Daze 4788 Bayliner
A fully charged battery system may indicate close to 27 volt. If the batteries indicate less than 21 Volts the
thruster should not be used until the system has been recharged. If the system fails to recharge do not use the
thruster and contact AYC for help.
The 24 volt system has its own charging circuit. This is controlled by the rotary switch on the pilot house helm
directly below the 24 volt digital readout. For normal operating this circuit should remain in the on position. It
may be turned off if making a long stay on an anchor to conserve power, or it may be turned off when the
system is being serviced, or the boat is in long term storage.
Verify the batteries have sufficient voltage by reading the digital volt meter, it should indicate no less than 21
volt when the batteries are discharged and may indicate as much as 28 volt when being charged. If outside of
this range do not use the thruster as this indicates the system is malfunctioning and may be unsafe. Advise AYC
that the system is in need of service.
A safety shut off master switch and fuse circuit are located under the lower bunk in the middle state room. In
the highly unlikely event of a runaway thruster, or shorted 24 volt circuit the large red button should be punched
down to disable the system. The safety switch incorporates a 325 AMP ANL fuse to protect the system. If the
system is not working verify the safety switch is in the raised position and that the fuse is intact. If the fuse is
spent please contact AYC for service.
3.5.3.2 Bow thruster controls:
Turn on the 24volt system, 24 volt charging circuit and verify the batteries have sufficient power.
Please read the above section on operating the 24 volt system before operating the thruster.
 A fixed joy stick control is installed just left of the shift controls on the fly bridge. This station provides the best
visibility for slow speed maneuvering.
 Alternatively you may use the thruster remote control stored in the clip on the pilot house helm.
Take note that this is a $400 item and you are responsible for its well being.
o
o It is advised to leave the remote in the clip. If you remove the remote control from its clip in the pilot
house, use the lanyard to prevent loss.
 To turn on the thruster hold down both "on" buttons simultaneously.
 Once turned on the thruster should be used in short bursts of 1 or 2 seconds with a pause to allow time for effect.
 Move the joy stick in the direction you want the bow to move.
o When using the remote the switches are arranged to represent a boat to help visualize what button to
push.
 The thruster may perform different depending on weather and current conditions and due to some laws of physics
it will provide more turning force when the boat is moving in reverse than when moving forward. These factors
should be considered when maneuvering the boat using the thruster.
 For safety to avoid unintended thruster action, when finished using the thruster push the off button. The thruster
will also turn itself off after about 4 minutes on non use.

3.5.4 Cruising

Slowly come up to your desired cruising rpm. (Do not exceed 1400 RPM until the engine temperature gauge
reads at least 140 degrees). Sea Daze can cruise nicely at approximately 16-17 knots. However, the realities of
