6.8 Optional Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
(CPR) Release
WARNING!
Risk of Injury or Damage
Activation of the CPR release may cause attendant or
resident injury. To avoid:
– Use the CPR release only for emergency situations.
This function will rapidly bring the head deck to a flat
position. Two-person operation is recommended;
one person to release the head deck, and another to
hold and gently guide the head deck down.
– DO NOT install a CS Bed Extender on a bed that is
equipped with the CPR release feature.
When using the CPR Release function, it is recommended to use
two people; one person to release the head deck at the foot end
of the bed and another person to gently guide the head deck to a
horizontal position.
Additional Means to Lower the Back Rest in an Emergency
The clevis pin and retaining clip can be removed from the connection
between the head actuator and head deck section to lower it. The
head deck must be supported while removing the pin and lowering
the head deck.

1. CPR handle is at the foot of the bed. A second person is
recommended to gently lower the head deck.
