The following procedures check the RMS jitter and the polarity of the laser
waveform in the modulator circuit.
This test checks the RMS jitter on a histogram display of the leading edge of the
modulator output optical waveform.
Test Overview.
1. Set up the equipment as shown in Figure 14.
2. Set the BERT parameters.
3. Compensate the oscilloscope.
4. Set the oscilloscope measurement parameters.
5. Preview the waveform.
6. Take measurements.
Test Setup.
1. Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 14. A torque wrench is recom-
mended for securing the SMA connections to 7 to 10 lb-in (79 to 112 N-cm).
