Panel Page Options Menu

You can customize the Panel Page to suit your needs by adjusting the layout. You can also perform
such operations as setting and OBS and holding, setting a bug indicator, turning the VNAV (vertical
navigation) indicator on and off, capturing the VNAV profi le, and setting the CDI (course deviation indi-
cator) scale. All of these operations are performed through the Panel Page Options Menu.
To display the Map Page Options Menu:
1. Press repeatedly until the Map Page is displayed.

When navigating a route, the following options are available:
Set Up Page Layout – allows you to customize the layout of the page, such as the size of text and
number of data fi elds.
Set OBS and Hold – allows you to manually defi ne the course to your destination waypoint. Once
selected, the GPSMAP 296 uses the OBS course setting for steering guidance with the course deviation
needle and desired course pointer.
NOTE: When using the GPSMAP 296 unit's route features, 'Set OBS and Hold' prevents the unit
from automatically sequencing to the next route waypoint. To maintain the OBS course and
retain automatic sequencing, you must also select the 'Release Hold' option.
Set Bug Indicator – allows you to defi ne the use of the bug indicator, which appears as a violet marker
along the outside edge of the rotating compass card. You can also turn it off here. By default, the bug
indicator shows bearing (BRG) to waypoint, but can also show course to steer (CTS) or be 'User Selected.'
The 'User Selected' option allows you to mark a heading reference on the graphic HSI. This provides a
visual cue of an important heading for current or future use.
VNAV Indicator Off/On – allows you to disable/enable the vertical navigation indicator (horizontal line)
on the graphic HSI. (See the "'VNAV' tab" section for more information on vertical navigation.)
