Using the Terrain Page

The Terrain Page, available only in Aviation Mode, provides an overhead view of your fl ight and the
terrain over which you are fl ying. If you happen to fl y too low, the Terrain Page warns you of the terrain
by displaying the topographic information in yellow and red
shading. The yellow areas are less than 1000 feet below you,
while the red areas are only about 100 feet below you (you
can adjust these distances). You should adjust your altitude if
the Terrain Page displays red and yellow areas.
If you are on another page of the GPSMAP 296 unit,
a pop-up Terrain Warning displays in the lower left-hand
corner to inform you of the situation. This warning appears
on every page of the unit.
