Determining the need to replace a fan assembly

Use one of the following methods:
Time required
Replacing a fan assembly in the Brocade VDX6720-60 should require less than two minutes to
complete.
Items required
The following items are required to replace a fan assembly in the Brocade VDX6720-60:
Replacing a Brocade VDX6720-60 fan assembly
To replace a fan assembly in the Brocade VDX6720-60, complete the following steps.
1. With a Phillips-head screwdriver, unscrew the captive screw on the fan assembly.
2. Pull the fan assembly out by the handle, away from the chassis.
3. Install the new fan assembly in the chassis:

describes the fan status LED colors, behaviors, and actions required, if any
Fan status LED behavior, description, and required actions.
Description
Fan assembly is not receiving power.
Fan assembly is operating normally.
Fan fault for one of the following reasons:
Check the fan status LED on the face of the fan assembly (see
page 18).
Enter ??? the f f anShow command at the prompt:
br5300:admin> fanshow
Fan 1 is Ok, speed is 4821 RPM
Fan 2 is Ok, speed is 4821 RPM
Fan 3 is Ok, speed is 4891 RPM
br5300:admin>
New fan assembly (must have the same part number as the FRU being replaced)
Phillips-head screwdriver #1
a. Orient the new fan assembly as shown in
b. Gently push the fan assembly into the chassis until it is firmly seated.
Installing a fan FRU in the VDX6720-60
One or more of the fans in the fan
assembly has failed.
The fan FRU was disabled by the user.

Action Required
Verify that the fan FRU is seated
correctly.
No action required.
Verify that the fan FRU is enabled. If
the fan FRU is enabled and the FRU
is faulty, it should be replaced.
