Diagnostic tests
In addition to POST, Fabric OS includes diagnostic tests to help you troubleshoot the hardware and
firmware. This includes tests of internal connections and circuitry, fixed media, and the
transceivers and cables in use.
The tests are implemented by command, either through a Telnet session or through a console set
up to the serial connection to the switch. Some tests require the ports to be connected by external
cables, to allow diagnostics to verify the serializer/deserializer interface, transceiver, and cable.
Some tests require loopback plugs.
Diagnostic tests run at link speeds of
the speed of the link being tested and the type of port.
NOTE
Diagnostic tests might temporarily lock the transmit and receive speed of the links during diagnostic
testing.

Brocade VDX6720 Management

You can use the management functions built into the Brocade VDX6720 to monitor the fabric
topology, port status, physical status, and other information to help you analyze switch
performance and to accelerate system debugging.
The Brocade VDX6720 automatically performs power-on self-test (POST) each time it is turned on.
Any errors are recorded in the system error log. For more information about POST, see
boot specifications"

You can manage the Brocade VDX6720 using any of the management options listed in
Note that if you use the command line interface, there are two sets of CLI commands, one for the
Fibre Channel features and one for the Data Center Bridging (DCB) features. Please refer to the
Brocade Network OS Administrator's Guide for more information on the respective CLI commands.
