    EN- 3000 Series Indicators INTRODUCTION Ths manual contans nstallaton, operaton and mantenance nstructons for the T32XW Indcator. Please read ths manual completely before nstallaton and operaton. Safety Precautions For safe and dependable operaton of ths equpment, please comply wth the followng safety precautons: • Verfy that the nput voltage range prnted on the data label matches the local AC power to be used. • Make sure that the power cord does not pose a potental obstacle or trppng hazard. • Use only approved accessores and perpherals. • Operate the equpment only under ambent condtons specfed n these nstructons. • Dsconnect the equpment from the power supply before cleanng. • Do not operate the equpment n hazardous or unstable envronments. • Do not mmerse the equpment n water or other lquds. • Servce should only be performed by authorzed personnel. • The Indcator s suppled wth a grounded power cable.     The ndcator can operate for up to 100 hours on a fully charged battery. Durng battery operaton, a flashng trangle above the battery functon symbol ndcates the battery s low and requres rechargng. Approxmately 60 mnutes of operaton wll reman when the battery symbol starts to blnk. The ndcator wll dsplay Lo.BAT and automatcally turn off when the battery s fully dscharged. CAUTION BATTERY IS TO BE REPLACED ONLY BY AN AUTHORIZED OHAUS SERVICE DEALER. RISK OF EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR IF REPLACED WITH THE WRONG TYPE OR CONNECTED IMPROPERLY. Dspose of the lead acd battery accordng to local laws and regulatons. 2.2. Mounting Bracket to the Indicator Algn the mountng bracket over the threaded holes n the sde of the ndcator and nstall the knobs. Adjust the ndcator to the desred angle and tghten the knobs.

    3000 Series Indicators EN- Remove the four hex head screws from the rear housng. Open the housng by carefully pullng the top of the front housng forward. Once all connectons are made, reattach the front housng. The screws should be tghtened fully to mantan a watertght seal. 2.3.2 Scale Base to the Indicator Pass the load cell cable through the stran relef (Fgure 1-1, tem 10) and attach t to termnal block J5 (Fgure 1-2, tem 5). Re-tghten the stran relef to ensure a watertght seal. Connection J5-1 +EXCITATION J5-2 +SENSE Jumper Connections J5-3 +SIGNAL For a 4-wre load cell wth no sense wres: Jumpers W1 and W2 must be shorted. J5-4 For a 6-wre load cell that ncludes sense wres, see Fgure 2-2. Jumpers W1 and W2 must J5-5 -SIGNAL be opened. J5-6 -SENSE For load cells wth an extra ground sheld wre: Connect the sheld to the center poston (GND) J5-7 -EXCITATION of J5. Fgure 2-2. Jumper Connectons. After wrng s completed and jumpers are n place, replace the ndcator housng screws. Make sure the stran relef s properly tghtened.

    EN-2 3000 Series Indicators Mounting Bracket Attach the bracket to a wall or table usng fasteners (not suppled) that are approprate for the type of mountng surface. The bracket wll accommodate up to 6 mm (1/4”) dameter screws. Locate the mountng holes as shown n Fgure 2-3. Fgure 2-3. Mountng Bracket Dmensons.

    EN- 3000 Series Indicators Menu Navigation TO ENTER THE MENU MODE Press and hold the Menu button untl MENU appears on the dsplay. The frst upper level menu appears on the dsplay. Calibration Menu Two calbraton processes are avalable: Span Calbraton and Lnearty Span Perform Calbraton. Lnearty Perform Geographc NOTES: Adjustment Set 00…Set … Set 31 1.     3000 Series Indicators EN- 3.3. Span Calibration Span Calbraton uses two ponts to adjust the scale. The frst pont s the zero value where there s no weght on the scale. The second pont s the Span value where a calbraton mass s placed on the scale. When SPAN s dsplayed, press the Yes button to access the Span Calbraton menu tem. The dsplay flashes 0. Wth no weght on the scale, press the Yes button to establsh the zero pont. The dsplay shows --C-- whle the zero pont s establshed. The dsplay flashes the span calbraton pont. Place the specfed weght on the scale and press the Yes button. To choose a dfferent span pont, repeatedly press the No button to ncrement the selectons or press the Back button to decrement the selectons. Refer to Table 3-3 for avalable span ponts. When the desred value s dsplayed, place the specfed weght on the scale and press the Yes button. The dsplay shows --C-- whle the span pont s establshed. If span calbraton was successful, the scale exts to the actve weghng mode and dsplays the actual weght value.  3.3.2 Linearity Calibration Lnearty calbraton uses 3 calbraton ponts. The frst calbraton pont s establshed wth no weght on the scale. The second calbraton pont s establshed at approxmately half capacty. The thrd calbraton pont s establshed at capacty. The Lnearty calbraton ponts are fxed and cannot be altered by the user durng the calbraton procedure. Refer to Table 3-3 for the lnearty ponts. When LINEAr s dsplayed, press the Yes button to access the Lnearty Calbraton menu tem. The dsplay flashes 0. Wth no weght on the scale, press the Yes button to establsh the zero pont. The dsplay shows --C-- whle the zero pont s establshed. The dsplay flashes the md calbraton pont. Place the specfed weght on the scale and press the Yes button.     EN- 3000 Series Indicators 3.3.3 Geographical Adjustment Factor The Geographcal Adjustment Factor (GEO) s used to compensate for varatons n gravty. Note: Changng the GEO Factor alters the calbraton. The GEO value was set at the factory and should only be changed by an authorzed manufacturer’s representatve or certfed verrcaton personnel. Refer to table 3-2 to determne the GEO factor that corresponds to your locaton. 3.3. End Calibration Advance to the next menu.

    3000 Series Indicators EN-2 3.. Lock Print Set the status. OFF = Prnt menu s not locked. ON = Prnt menu s locked. 3.. End Lock Advance to the next menu. 3.0 Security Switch A securty swtch s located on the Man PCB board. When the swtch s set to the on poston, user menu settngs that were locked n the Menu Lock can not be changed. Open the housng as explaned n Secton 2.3.1. Set the poston of securty swtch to ON as shown n Fgure 1-3. OPERATION Turning Indicator On/Off To turn the Indcator on, press the and hold the ON/ZERO Off button for 2 seconds. The Indcator performs a dsplay test, momentarly dsplays the software verson, and then enters the actve weghng mode. To turn the Indcator off, press and hold the ON/ZERO Off button untl OFF s dsplayed. Zero Operation Zero can be set under the followng condtons: • Automatcally at Power On (ntal zero).

    EN-2 3000 Series Indicators Changing Units of Measure Press and hold the PRINT Units button untl the desred measurng unt appears. Only measurng unts enabled n the Unt Menu wll be dsplayed (refer to Secton 3.7). Printing Data Prntng the dsplayed data to a prnter or sendng the data to a computer requres that the communcaton parameters n the Prnt Menu are set (refer to Secton 3.8). Press the PRINT Units button to send the dsplayed data to the communcaton port (the Auto-Prnt Mode n Secton 3.8 functon must be Off). Application Modes Only modes enabled n the mode menu wll be dsplayed (refer to Secton 3-6). .. Weighing Place the tem to be weghed on the scale. The llustraton ndcates a sample of 1.5 kg, Gross weght. Note: To return to the Weghng mode from the Parts Countng mode, press and hold the Mode button untl WEIGH s dsplayed. ..2 Parts Counting Use ths mode to count parts of unform weght. The Indcator determnes the quantty based on the average weght of a sngle part. All parts must be unform n weght for accurate measurements. To enter the Parts Countng mode, press and hold the Mode button untl Count s dsplayed. Average Piece Weight (APW) When the Mode button s released, CLr.PW Pcs s dsplayed.
  • Page 31 3000 Series Indicators EN-2 Recalling a Stored APW Press the No button to recall the exstng APW. Press the FUNCTION Mode button to temporarly dsplay the APW value. Establishing the Average Piece Weight (APW) The dsplay shows Put10 Pcs. Establishing a New APW Press the No button to ncrement the sample sze. Choces are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200. To establsh the APW, place the specfed quantty of samples on the scale and press the Yes button to capture the weght. Begin Counting Place the parts on the scale and read the count. If a contaner s used, be sure to tare the empty contaner frst.

    EN-30 3000 Series Indicators SERIAL COMMUNICATION The Indcator nclude an RS232 seral communcaton nterface. The setup of RS232 operatng parameters are more fully explaned n Secton 3.8. The physcal hardware connecton s explaned n n Secton 2.2. The nterface enables dsplay data to be sent to a computer or prnter. A computer can be used to control some functons of the ndcator usng the commands lsted n Table 5-1. Interface Commands Communcate to the ndcator usng the command characters lsted n Table 5-1.     EN-32 3000 Series Indicators LEGAL FOR TRADE When the ndcator s used n trade or a legally controlled applcaton t must be set up, verfed and sealed n accordance wth local weghts and measures regulatons. It s the responsblty of the purchaser to ensure that all pertnent legal requrements are met. Settings Before verfcaton and sealng, perform the followng steps: 1. Verfy that the menu settngs meet the local weghts and measures regulatons. 2. Perform a calbraton. 3. Set Legal for Trade to ON n the Setup menu. 4. Ext the menu. 5. Dsconnect power from the ndcator and open the housng as explaned n Secton 2.3.1. 6. Set the poston of the securty swtch to ON as shown n Secton 1.2, Fgure 1-2, Item 8. 7. Close the housng. 8. Reconnect power and turn the ndcator on. NOTE: For nstallatons that employ the audt tral sealng method, steps 5 to 8 are not requred. However, the securty swtch may be set to ON to safeguard aganst unntentonal changes to confguraton and calbraton settngs. NOTE: When Legal for Trade s set to ON and the securty swtch s set to ON, the followng menu settngs cannot be changed: Span Calbraton, Lnearty Calbraton, GEO, LFT, Calbraton Unt, Capacty, Graduaton, Power On Unt, Zero Range, Auto Zero Trackng, Expanded Mode, Count Mode, Klogram Unt, Pound Unt, Gram Unt, Ounce Unt, Pound Ounce Unt, Stable Only. To enable edtng of these menu settngs, return the securty swtch to the off poston and set LFT menu tem to off. Verification The local weghts and measures offcal or authorzed servce agent must perform the verfcaton procedure. Please contact your local weghts and measures offce for further detals. Sealing .3. Physical Seals For jursdctons that use the physcal sealng method, the local weghts and measures offcal or authorzed servce agent must apply a securty seal to prevent tamperng wth the settngs. Refer to the llustratons below for sealng methods.

Paper Seal .3.2 Audit Trail Seal For jursdctons that use the audt tral sealng method, the local weghts and measures offcal or authorzed servce agent must record the current confguraton and calbraton event counter values at the tme of sealng. These values wll be compared to values found durng a future nspecton. NOTE: A change to an event counter value s equvalent to breakng a physcal seal. The audt tral uses two event counters to record changes to confguraton and calbraton settngs. • The confguraton event counter (CFG) wll ndex by 1 when extng the menu f one or more of the followng settngs are changed Legal for Trade, Calbraton Unt, Capacty, Graduaton, Power On Unt, Zero Range, Auto Zero Trackng, Expanded Mode, Count Mode, Klogram Unt, Pound Unt, Gram Unt, Ounce Unt, Pound Ounce Unt, Stable Only. Note that the counter only ndexes once, even f several settngs are changed. The confguraton event counter values range from CFG000 to CFG999.
