NOTICE
• It is advised that you always carry a spare
propeller, propeller hardware and propeller
wrench on board. Should your propeller
become damaged it can then be easily
replaced.
• Under no circumstance should you use a
p r o p e l l e r w h i c h a l l o w s t h e e n g i n e
to operate at a higher than recommended
RPM.
The engine on your 230 Dauntless has been equipped
with a propeller which our tests have shown to be
best suited for general use under normal conditions
and load. In some situations you may wish to change
the propeller to give your boat slightly different
performance characteristics or if bottom painted.
In general, changing to a lower pitch propeller will
increase acceleration and load pulling capability, with
a slight decrease in top end speed. If you choose
to change propellers, the type should be discussed
with your Boston Whaler
are designed to provide maximum forward thrust,
consequently, the reverse thrust of the propeller will
not be as effi cient.

Propellers have two basic characteristics, diameter
and pitch.
Diameter is that distance measured across the
propeller hub from the outer edge of the 360
is made by the propeller's blade during a single
rotation. Pitch is that distance in inches that a
propeller will travel if rotated one revolution without
any slippage.
