MAIN Operator
An operator registered in the site catalog with the MAIN attribute.
MAM (Message Access Method) Message Queues
These are queues for communications messages, stacked in order to establish or retrace the events
concerning a job run over the network. At Restart, various actions are possible regarding these
queues, for example, elimination, or storage for rollback.
Member
A GCOS 7 host system that is integrated into a Complex of the GCOS 7 High Availability facility.
Millennium Application Test Facility
On DPS 7000/MTxx, the ability to test an application with a private date within one GCOS 7.
Millennium Bi-System Test Facility
On DPS 7000/MTxx, the ability to run two versions of GCOS 7 with two different dates for
production and test purposes.
MIRROR disks
A pair of disks that have the same name, the same device attributes, the MIRROR attribute, the
same volume label, plus the mirror extension, MIRLAB. They are ordered hierarchically Primary
and Secondary. The user sees this pair as one logical disk.
Mixed Job
In the Complex Management Service of the TDS High Availability product, the term MIXED JOB
designates a batch or an IOF job which uses simultaneously an HA JAS and a non-HA JAS.
MSP (Mass Storage Processor)
Subsystem controller.
MSPD
ORU name for a SCSI drive and streamer controller.
Multiprogramming
Execution of two or more unrelated programs on the same computer.
O
OCL (Operator Command Language)
The older GCOS 7 command set that is still operational, but without the menus and other user-
friendly features of the newer GCL.
OPR (Output Priority)
Used to queue outputs waiting to be processed by the writer service job.
