    EMI WARNING The scooters may be susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI), which is a kind of interfering electromagnetic energy (EM) emitted from sources such as radio stations, TV stations, amateur radio (HAM) transmitters, two-way radio, and cellular phones. The interference (from radio wave sources) can cause the scooter to release its brakes, move by itself, or move in unintended directions.

Do not operate hand-held transceivers (transmitters-receivers), such as citizens band (CB) radios, or turn ON personal communication devices, such as cellular phones, while the scooter is turned ON. 2. Be aware of nearby transmitters, such as radio or TV stations, and try to avoid coming close to them.

    SCOOTER TILLER CONTROLS (FIG. 2) Speed Control Turning this knob to the left, reduces your available maximum speed. Turning it to the right, increases the available maximum speed. Battery Gauge The gauge is marked from “E” empty, to “F” full. For extra clarity, there is a colored graduated scale ranging from RED, (E) through YELLOW to GREEN, (F).

    OPERATING YOUR SCOOTER Freewheel Mechanism (FIG. 3) A freewheel device disengages the power drive to allow manual operation. The freewheel is selected by pulling up the lever which is located at the rear of the scooter. Once freewheel has been selected, the electronic drive control system is disabled to inhibit driving. This is a safety feature to prevent you driving the scooter with the parking brake disengaged.
  • Page 10 OPERATING YOUR SCOOTER Basic Driving 1. Make sure you are properly seated on the scooter and that the Speed Control knob is turned fully to the left, towards the “tortoise” icon. Note: Reverse movement of the scooter may not occur when Speed Control Dial is turned fully anti-clockwise and reversing up a slope.
  • Page 11 OPERATING YOUR SCOOTER Braking To bring the scooter to a standstill simply let go of the throttle control lever. Remember to keep your hands on the handlebars while the scooter is braking. Two types of braking are used. (a) Automatic regenerative braking, which slows the scooter to a stop. (b) Automatic braking which will operate a couple of seconds after releasing the control lever and holds the scooter in position, even if you are on a hill within the angle specified as the Figure 15.

    EXTRA GUIDELINES IN THE CONTROL OF YOUR SCOOTER Ramps The stability of your scooter is governed by several factors such as the seating position, the angle of the slope and your height and weight. When approaching an incline, do so directly and not at an angle and where ever possible avoid making turns.

    If the batteries are weak, severely discharged or old, a variety of problems may occur with the unit including charging problems, ® reduced speed, loss of range, and others. Please contact your local SHOPRIDER provider for battery replacement.

    TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Circuit Breaker (Reset Button) (Fig. 16) Your scooter is fitted with the latest in electronic controls that are programmed to protect the electrical system from abnormal overloads. Provided for extra protection is a circuit breaker, located on the side of the battery pack.
