PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Figure 13
For maximum engine life, Isuzu recommends that
when shutting the engine down, you allow the
engine to idle, without load, for five minutes. This
will allow the engine components that operate at
high temperatures, such as the turbocharger (if
equipped) and exhaust system, to cool slightly
before the engine itself is shut down.
Never hold the key in the START position for longer
than 15 seconds or the starter motor will overheat.
HEAT (Figure 13, (4)) - You must turn the key to
the HEAT position to activate the glow plug. The
indicator will flash for several seconds when you
turn the key to HEAT. You can turn the key to
START when the indicator goes out.

Glow Plugs

Glow plugs help make the engine easy to start at
cold temperatures. During the engine starting
sequence, the glow plugs are activated for
approximately 4 seconds (15 seconds in case of
3CE1). After the pre-heat indicator goes out, the
engine can be started.
These plugs are installed in the cylinder head swirl
chambers for IDI engines or in the combustion
chambers for DI engines.

Never attempt to adjust the low or high idle speed
limit screw. This may impair the safety and
performance of the machine and shorten its life. If
adjustment is ever required, contact your Isuzu
Distributor.
The governor lever (Figure 14, (1)) controls the
engine speed. The lever is linked to the engine
speed control device in the driven machine.
The high idle speed limit screw (Figure 14, (2))
restricts the maximum engine speed when the
engine is operated without a load.
The low idle speed limit screw (Figure 14, (3)) sets
engine speed while it is idling.
