Troubleshooting Checklist

These occurrences are not covered by the
manufacturers' warranty.
All electric motors, including fans make some
noise and may feel hot if touched-this is not a
fault.
Some fans wobble more than others-even in the
same model.
Problem
Fan will not start
Fan wobbles
Fan sounds noisy
Possible Cause
Fuse circuit breaker
blown.
Loose power line
connection to the
Ceiling Fan.
Reversing switch (where
applicable) neither up or
down.
Speed controller not in
correct position.
Fan blades not horizontal
to ceiling or blade screws
are loose.
Top canopy touching
ceiling.
Light kit glassware loose
or rattling.
Incorrect bulb(s) being
used in light kit.
Loose fan blade screws.
Ceiling Fan not secured
against ceiling.
Incorrect speed
controller.
Mechanical noise
Fan lights can rattle but are not covered under
warranty.
Fan wall controllers sometimes make a slight
buzz and can become warm especially on lower
settings.
Suggested Remedy
Check main branch circuit fuses or circuit breakers.
Check line wire connections to Ceiling Fan.
Push switch either fully up or down.
Check speed controller's position.
Measure from ceiling to tip of blades, then rotate fan so
all 4 blades are checked for equal height from ceiling.
(Note: adjustments may be made by slight pressure up
or down on blade holders). Make sure all screws are
securely fastened.
Lower canopy from ceiling to ensure minimum 3mm
clearance.
Threaded brass knob securing glass should be finger
tight.
Check suggested bulb(s) in light kit.
Re-tighten all screws on fan blades but never over
tighten.
Re-tighten all screws in the hanging bracket or plate.
Change the controller to the one supplied.
Allow for at least 8 hours settling in period.
