Appendix C. Configuring multiple SCSI adapters

You can install as many SCSI adapters in your computer as there are PCI
expansion slots.
In computers with multiple SCSI adapters, consider the following:
v If you are starting up from the SCSI adapter, you might have to install the
startup adapter in the lowest numbered PCI bus slot. (Most IBM and Intel
based PCI computers do not have this requirement.) Refer to your computer
documentation to determine the PCI bus slot number.
v If you have two adapters and each has a startup device connected, the
computer starts up from the adapter in the lowest numbered PCI bus slot. If
you want to select a specific adapter from which to start up, enable the BIOS
on that adapter only.
v If you are starting up from the SCSI adapter and you also have an
ISA/EISA-based adapter installed, you must disable the BIOS on the
ISA/EISA-based adapter.
v If you are starting up from an ISA/EISA-based adapter and you have a PCI
Wide Ultra2 SCSI Adapter installed with a startup device connected, the
ISA/EISA-based adapter will start up before the SCSI adapter.
v When running the SCSISelect, if the program finds multiple PCI Wide Ultra2
SCSI Adapters in your computer, it displays the PCI bus number and PCI
device number of each adapter. To determine which of the adapters
SCSISelect is configuring, view the red LEDs on the adapters as you move
the highlight bar to different adapters with the ↑ and ↓ keys. (The computer
cover must be removed to view the LEDs.)
