improvements and enhanced functionality listed in this document for Gen9. For additional
information, please see the HPE SmartMemory QuickSpecs.
NOTE: LRDIMM and RDIMM are distinct memory technologies and cannot be mixed within a
server.
NOTE: Depending on the memory configuration and processor model, the memory speed may run
at 2133, 1866MHz, 1600MHz. Please see Memory Population Table below or the Online Memory
Configuration Tool.

Advanced ECC uses single device data correction to detect and correct
single and all multibit error that occurs within a single DRAM chip.
Memory online spare mode detects a rank that is degrading and switches
operation to the spare rank.
Memory mirroring inter-socket stores a copy of memory with dynamic
failover in case of failure. Once a DIMM in a mirrored set is detected as
failed, the mirror failover uses its mirrored DIMM.
Memory demand and patrol scrubbing prevent accumulation of correctable
errors and reduces the likelihood of unplanned downtime.
Failed DIMM isolation improves the service time thus improving the overall
system availability.
Data Bus ECC protection provides automatic correction from a single data
bit error and detection of double data error bits. Often called single error
correction/double error detection (SEC/DED).
Memory thermal control is used to prevent DIMMs from overheating.
Achieved by slowing down the memory access rate per the temperature
monitored by DIMM sensor.
Memory mirroring inter-socket stores a copy of memory with dynamic
failover in case of failure. Once a DIMM in a mirrored set is detected as
failed, the mirror failover uses its mirrored DIMM.
