Chapter 2.
Configuring XDP involves the following steps:
Review and configure the DPCONF file.
Build your access rules in the DPACL.
Compile CONF files and start XDP.
2.1

The DPCONF File

The DPCONF file is initially configured during installation as described in Chapter 1.
This file configures global values, which you can modify or add additional keywords.
The default macro name is XDP but user can choose not to use the default name.
Multiple copies of XDP can be installed on the same system. Each installation requires
a unique macro name.
Refer to Appendix A:
2.2

The DPCONFAP (XDP Init) File

The XDP Init file DPCONFAP is created in each subvolume where XDP-enabled
application objects reside. The file provides information that the XDP library needs to
initialize access to XDP. Furthermore, it prevents applications and XDP macros from
inadvertently accessing other XDP instances that can exist on a system. The macro
name in the DPAPCONF file matches the process name of the XYGATEDP process
and the XDP Pathway process that were chosen during the install process.
If different XDP installations exist on a system, it is possible that data encrypted by one
XDP installation cannot be decrypted by a different XDP installation. For this reason
the DPCONFAP file is used to ensure that all application program objects in a
subvolume access only one installation of XDP.
A DPCONFAP file will be created if one does not already exist when the XDP library is
first installed into an application object file. The newly created DPCONFAP file will
contain the current XDP macro name and the XDP installation location. If the
DPCONFAP file already exists when installing a XDP library, a check is performed to
validate that the values in the DPCONFAP file match the values in the XDP installation
macro. If there is a mismatch, the library install is not done and an error message is
output.
